Meet Ezra! His Momma contacted me well over a month before he was born to set a tentative date for his newborn shoot. Little man showed up right on time! He was good and hungry upon my arrival and it took us a few tricks (and some patience) to get him good and asleep. Mom and Dad were very patient and seemed like pros already, even though he is their first baby. We had so much fun walking around their house and finding items to use in portraits with him - their home decor is so much fun! My definite favorite was this wooden vase - perfect for propping Ezra up...and he played along and didn't even peep.

Look at those lashes! Who could resist this sleeping baby?...Who would want to try?!!!

Mom and Dad wanted to make sure we got a shot with their ketubah - which was so beautiful and colorful - it really captured the essence of their growing family.

Ezra's room was decorated with elephants - so cute - and this little elephant was a special gift from his grandmother.

So the Momma of this family LOVES photos, but she just hasn't had good luck. Her children are adorable, friendly, and FULL of joy...but the second you turn a camera lens on them you are met with little stone faces. Before we left for the session she gave me a tour of the photo history that adorned her walls and shelves. She has tried MANY of the various quick-ee studious, always with the same disappointing results. She told me often times she ends up getting the photo for free because the studio feels so badly that they don't charge her. No pressure, right?!!! And sure enough at the house the children are a delight, the whole car ride they are smiling at me and giggly, we pull up to the (GORGEOUS) wine vineyard, scope the place out, find a good spot, and I take out my camera. The kids are not happy about this. Not amused at all. SIGH. No worries. I gave them my time and patience - and we coaxed it out of them. What do you think?

Meet Cami!

Who, at a whopping 9 days old, was easily one of the easiest babies I have ever worked with. She was asleep upon my arrival and pretty much stayed that way (but for 2 little episodes of rooting at her hand, and so we took breaks to feed her). Her Momma looked fantastic and shared her incredible birth story with me. Yup folks - little Miss Camilla was born right at home - after a 30 HOUR labor! Go Momma! ...and I've got to tell you, there must be something to it becasue Camilla was the most relaxed and at ease babe (sweet cheeks and happy squeaky noises to boot!)

Meet Lucy Faith - the happiest baby on Earth. What a dream! She slept and squeaked and ate and slept some more. Easy peasy. Little Lucy's Daddy's cousin (got all that?) found me on the web and contacted me to purchase the newborn session for this sweet family as a gift (I know...good gift, right? Don't we all wish we had cousins so sweet...) The best part was - upon arriving at their home - I discovered that I actually knew little Lucy's Momma!!! We went to college together - same class - same major - SMALL WORLD!!!! Lucy is the first grandbaby on both sides and is already so adored!

Katy & Bill - wedding CT

I had so much FUN working with this beautiful couple! They are a wedding photographer's dream come true. When I first met with Katy and Bill and asked them to describe themselves they told me "fun and funny" ...and I would say that is a very accurate description! We were all laughing and cracking smiles throughout the day. The tone was one of pure joy and happiness...just as a wedding should be. Even the limo driver asked me, "Do you know the bride?" When I responded with, "What do you mean?" He answered, "I mean, like were you college roommates or something? You just seem to be having such a good time together. You seem to have a lot of inside jokes or something." Quite a compliment, I thought! Not to mention Katy and Bill's friends and family were all so warm and friendly. I could immediately tell they did a great job surrounding themselves with love and support on this important day! Katy seemed to act like the planning of the day was no big deal, but they added in all sorts of details that made their wedding uniquely theirs...from the plethora of peacock feathers, to the guest photo booth, to the wine bottle guest book...I was impressed. I feel very honored to be a part of such a BEAUTIFUL and HAPPY event. Thanks Katy & Bill!

and then there wedding in the fall of 2008...

...and now here she is - their first precious BABY GIRL! Meet little Lexi. Isn't she beautiful?
What a joy to work with them again at another happy, life-changing moment in their lives! This is why I do what I do folks. I am a sucker for this stuff. How humbling to be invited over and over again to help capture their life story! Thanks for the honor guys!!!!

This little bundle was by far one of the easiest babies I've ever had the pleasure to work with. She came complete with cherub cheeks and the sweetest little squeaking noises to boot! She was 7 days old for her session and ready to go. When I arrived she was quite awake, looking all around and blinking her adorable eyes. She especially likes to look at her Mommy and Daddy. We decided to keep her awake for the family pics...and when it was time to go to sleep off she went and off she stayed! Not even that itchy little tutu bothered her. Perfect angel.

This precious little peanut was exactly 2 weeks old - and so tiny. She came almost a month early because she REALLY wanted to be here in time to share Valentine's Day with her parents. Have no fear, judging by the way she likes to eat she will not be tiny for long! After a good nursing she was right off to sleep and so cooperative. Then woke up for a bit, ate some more, right back off to sleep, then woke up, ate again, back to sleep again. So cute. My favorite part was hearing her Daddy ooh and ahh over her. I honestly lost count of how many time I heard him whisper that she was "so precious."

Baby "Noname"

This sweet couple is waiting for the birth of their baby boy to announce his name to the world, and so they have taken to calling him "Noname" (pronounced either No-Name or No-nom-ay). Can't wait to meet him come March. His Mama's bump is adorable (don't hate her ladies)...I can only imagine how adorable HE is going to be!

He arrived on January 27th - with his oh so cute little cheeks! Mommy and Daddy are in love, and so relaxed for first time parents! It already seemed like Gavin had been there forever. After a few of my little tricks he went (and stayed) right to sleep. His great grandparents even arrived at the tail end of the session and were chuckling over how they couldn't believe he was sleeping through it all.

Big Brother Bow...

Meet Bow... a very happy 2-year-old with the sweetest smile, who was very excited to show me where his baby brother is currently living...in his Mommy's tummy, of course. This adorable family is happily awaiting the arrival of Baby#2 in late January, and wanted to capture this special time in their family story. They were an easy going bunch with a beautiful home - filled with lots of windows, natural light, plain walls (perfect for portraits), and of course...LOVE. And you all know how I feel about love! I knew immediately that Bow is going to be a wonderful big brother.

Mom and Dad were dream clients, really. Those of you who have (or have ever had) 2-year-olds know that catching them at a good time is key. Mom and Dad had Bow well rested and fed upon my arrival. They let me play with him a bit until he warmed up, and were happy to let him take breaks in between. Go with the flow. We discussed shots that they were interested in, but when Bow seemed like he was done before we got absolutely everything, Mom and Dad decided what we had was definitely good enough. This allowed Bow to end his family maternity session with a smile on his face - a good experience - rather than push him over his limits. Thanks Mom & Dad!

Hello all! After almost a year hiatus - I am BACK!

The year has SPED by - and supplied many a change for the Bage family! We welcomed our little Marylou in April, after a bit of a complicated pregnancy and birth. We are so happy to have a little sister for sweet Memphis - but true to rumor - she has been HIGH MAINTENANCE since even before she arrived. Even now at six months old things are not always easy, as we continue to try to figure out all her eating issues. BUT - a little ray of sunshine she is indeed! Her smile is infectious.

I am back to PHOTOG WORK and just recently shot a wedding and an engagement shoot. I am now busy working away getting some pics ready to post for you. It is a bit trickier now that I have TWO munchkins calling for me!

Thank you for your patience as we have adjusted to our new family. As for those of you who have inquired - YES - I continue to take at least 1 photo of each Memphis and Marylou each day (for project 365). I haven't had time to share them on the web like I used to...adjusting, remember? AND YES - I have MISSED working professionally for other families and am SO EXCITED to be back.

Here are some of my faves from the other engagement session I did last weekend - this one was in BOSTON.

First off, I really have to thank the couple (Mariya and Justin) for parading all over the center of Boston and being so open to all my crazy ideas. They were a little shy at first (as anyone may feel when hugging and kissing as a "Duck Boat" tour bus full of Bostonian tourists speeds by and you hear the tour guide saying "Awwwwww...look at the love birds") but didn't let that stop them one bit. Within ten minutes into the session it was like no one else existed, except them. Very sweet.

They didn't even let a GIANT thunderstorm chase them off. We simply sat in the parked car for 40 minutes waiting for that rain to let up, which THANKFULLY it did. The wet surroundings really made for some beautiful colors...and we brought umbrellas just in case!

The most fun part was finding backgrounds that were very "Bostonian" ...as the couple really wanted to capture their home.

FUNNIEST MOMENT OF THE SESSION: Mariya and Justin are canoodling on the steps in front of the State Building. I kneel down and lean over to try to get the beautiful State Building in the background - and -just -can't - seem - to - fit - it - in - the - frame! So I lean over a little more. I am now in a strange contortionist pose, bent over, laying completely on my side with my legs bent all funny on the sidewalk of this very main street in Boston with people and cars going by. I pay them no mind...when from behind me who should come cruising by, but an ambulance. They see me laying on the ground, and since they are coming from behind me they DON'T see my camera, nor do they seem to notice Mariya and Justin. With worried / horrified faces, they quickly whip the ambulance over to the side of the road and turn on their lights - coming to rescue me. At which point they notice Mariya and Justin and my camera, and Mariya waves them off, letting them know I am not in need of medical assistance, but am indeed a wacky photographer just trying to "get the shot!" Oh - we had quite a chuckle over that one.

Dave & Ewelina - ENGAGED!

This weekend it was off to the beach - Watch Hill RI - for an engagement shoot with this AMAZING couple. They were newly engaged in June, and yup, he popped the question on the beach. They were completely relaxed and so much fun - and very, very much in love...and you all know how I feel about love. I can't wait for their August '09 wedding!

M Family

A super fun family to work with. This little guy (now going into 2nd grade - ALREADY) was actually in my kindergarten class last year...(sigh) my last class before leaving teaching to stay home with my own little one. His Mom keeps telling me, "Just wait. It only goes faster once your own get into school."

We went to Elizabeth Park in Hartford for this shoot. The rose garden was in bloom, and it is the very same place the Mom and Dad went to have portraits down when they got married.
Possibly the cutest part about this family was the way the older sister just adored the little brother. Too too cute.

My very own nephew - a whopping 6 months old already. I can't believe it. He is getting quite good at sitting up, and was very interested in my camera. His hair is actually starting to curl - so cute! His Daddy is in a bit of denial and says that it curls becasue his mommy (my big sis) gets it wet and tries to make it curly. I don't know Daddy...looks pretty curly to me.

Meet Kate - just 10 days old here (the baby from the previous maternity shoot). Her big sister Olivia lovingly calls here "Baby Kate" and was happy to join in on some pics. At one point I asked Olivia, "Can you kiss Baby Kate and tell her 'you're so cute'?" Olivia nodded, kissed Kate and gleefully said, "Baby Kate, I'm so cute!" Precious.

I have been editing away and perfecting my "official" web site www.anitabage.com

I confess. I have also been spending a lot of time outside with the little guy. Not that he gives me much choice...he stands at the door desperately signing "outside" and yelling "ow-sigh!" The weather has been gorgeous here in western MA!

I recently donated a photography package to the auction at Suffield Academy www.suffieldacademy.org. Bidding is open to the public on-line. The least I could do for my Alma mater! After all, it IS where I got my photography start!

Such a beautiful pregnant belly! And this little one was SO EXCITED about having a little sister. Made me wonder if my big sister was this happy when I was on my way. It also brought back so many good memories of sisterhood. These two little girls have so much fun and love in store! (And Mom booked me to come back for newborn photos so be on the look out...some time at the end of May!)

The couple really wanted a spring-like setting...they are getting married this fall though, so we couldn't actually wait for spring. I had the bright idea to travel to "Magic Wings" - a giant greenhouse filled with thousands of butterflies - how romantic! The trick is to get there early in the morning, when they open, to avoid a crowd.

Just in case we also decided to take soem outside in the snow. Lucky me - there was a gorgeous old train parked across th street. One trudge through the snow later...beautiful photos. I actually prefer some of the train ones.

A beautiful brother and sister. Brother O just started kindergarten, and sister O is 3. They were full of fun and laughter - and really, really loved each other. As I looked through the photos after the shoot I couldn't help but think, "Man, I wish I had shots like this of me and my brother and sister when we were little." Such a magical time in their lives - now caught forever!
